Circularity in Our Supply Chain: How WEMADEK Holds Itself to the Right Standards

22 October 2026 · 5 min read

Circularity is a word fashion uses often and means rarely. At WEMADEK we would rather show you what we actually do than hide behind a label — so here is how our supply chain works, and the standards we hold ourselves to at each step.

Made to order, never overproduced

The most wasteful garment is the one nobody wanted. Every WEMADEK piece is cut only after you order it. We hold no warehouse of unsold stock, and nothing we make is ever destined for landfill or a clearance fire sale. Our 45-day delivery time is the direct result of this choice: the cloth is woven, cut and finished for one person, not for a season's guess.

Natural fibre, built to last

Aso oke is hand-loomed cotton — a natural, biodegradable fibre with no plastic content. Because the strips are woven by hand, the fabric is dense and durable in a way machine-made cloth rarely matches. A circular garment starts with materials that can return to the earth and a construction that postpones that day for decades.

Small batches, careful cutting

We produce in small batches and plan every cut to use the full width of each woven strip. Narrow-strip cloth like aso oke naturally lends itself to low-waste pattern cutting: panels, pockets and trims are planned together so offcuts stay minimal.

Repair before replace

Circularity fails the moment a garment becomes disposable. Every WEMADEK piece carries a 12-month warranty against workmanship and material faults — if a seam fails or a strip joint loosens, we repair it free of charge, postage both ways. Damaged garments can be returned within 3 months of delivery for repair, replacement or refund. We would rather mend a coat for ten years than sell you three.

Honest about what we are not

We do not yet hold third-party sustainability certifications, and we will not claim them until we do. What we can stand behind today is verifiable: made-to-order production, natural handwoven fibre, free repairs, and a supply chain short enough to name — woven in Nigeria, finished by hand, and shipped from our hubs in Dubai, Lagos and London.

What you can do

Circularity is a partnership. Wash cold, never tumble dry, iron on the reverse, and send a piece back to us before you ever think of throwing it away. Our care guide for handwoven cotton in our FAQ shows how to keep a garment going for decades.
